345 of 1001 Albums: Abba's Arrival

Abba sees like the right group to kick off 1976. They are poppy, and fun, and you can't really dislike them. Their music is just a lot more fun to listen to than expected. It's very upbeat, and the lyrics are memorable to you. You won't forget many songs on the album, and each one seems to stand out, which is rare for an album to do all the way through. You have a lot of disco fused songs, that just make you feel really good.

Every single song has an unique song from the moment it kicks off with "When I Kissed the Teacher". It's a surprise that a group could still remain in the same realm, but mix the music up as much as they did. After that you get "Dancing Queen". This has to be one of Abba's more recognizable songs, and it's definitely great. It's upbeat, and there is just something very encouraging about it.


"Money, Money, Money" is a song that sort of changes it up a bit. The beat is very different than the others, but not so much so that if you were enjoying the other songs from Abba that you wouldn't enjoy this one. The group continues to mix it up with "Why Did It Have to be Me?", which has sort of a 50s vibe to it with the guitar they included. They have really creative music, and I just don't see how I could have disliked this one especially when upbeat tunes like this are becoming scarce.

Abba is worth giving a listen to. There are a lot of songs on it, and all twelve are just as enjoyable as the previous one you heard. They even get a little serious with songs like "Knowing Me, Knowing You", so you have a bit of everything. They are very upbeat though, and the range of vocals used sort of even make them more appealing.
